NASCAR America: Was right decision made in not penalizing Kyle Busch?

Elf7lMoJIEuO
NASCAR announced that it would not hand out penalties to Joey Logano or Kyle Busch following their incident in Las Vegas. Did it make the right decision?

On Wednesday it was announced NASCAR would not penalize anyone involved in the post-race fight between Kyle Busch and Joey Logano.

Today, Parker Kligerman and Steve Letarte discussed the decision and the meeting the drivers will have with NASCAR Friday at Phoenix Raceway.

“It’s a byproduct of racing the same drivers week in and week out,” Parker Kligerman said. “It’s one of those things that illustrates again though the passion these drivers put in to it ... and when it’s taken away, we’re upset.”

The drivers will meet face-to-face with NASCAR prior to practice on Friday to discuss the incident.

“The meeting is very necessary,” Steve Letarte said, noting how a lack of a meeting in 2015 likely led to the escalation of a feud between Logano and Matt Kenseth. “The meeting will be private, but the trip to and from the NASCAR trailer will be very public. ... It’s going to be a great opportunity for Steve O’Donnell, perhaps some other upper brass of NASCAR to sit the two drivers down, maybe even the crew chiefs, perhaps even the owners if they’re in town.”
