Today’s Cup race at Atlanta: Start time, weather, TV/radio info

HAMPTON, Ga. — The NASCAR Cup series will play host Sunday to the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the season’s first race on a 1.54-mile oval (the length of track that makes up the bulk of the schedule).

Here are the particulars (all times are ET):

START: The command for drivers to start engines will be given at 2:37 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 2:46 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 325 laps (500 miles) around the 1.54-mile oval.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Sprint Cup garage opens at 9 a.m. The drivers meeting is at 12:30 p.m. Driver introductions are at 2 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: It will be performed by Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project at 2:31 p.m.

TV/RADIO: Fox will broadcast the race. Performance Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at GoPRN.com. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry PRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts 64 degrees at race time with a 0% chance of rain.

LAST YEAR: Jimmie Johnson led the final 45 laps after capitalizing on a short-pitting strategy that beat Kevin Harvick, who led a race-high 131 laps.
