NASCAR found only 17 of 20 lug nuts properly secured on the No. 47 Chevrolet of AJ Allmendinger following Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The infraction could result in a three-race suspension for crew chief Randall Burnett.

As part of NASCAR’s revised penalty system, if a team has 17 or fewer lug nuts, it’s an L1 penalty with a three-race crew chief suspension and a $65,000 fine. For 18 lug nuts, a team receives a $20,000 fine and a one-race crew chief suspension. For 19 lug nuts, a $10,000 fine is issued.

Allmendinger finished 26th, three laps down in the race a week after giving JTG-Daugherty Racing a third-place finish in the Daytona 500.
