Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was a guest of honor today at the state house in his home of Mississippi.
The Roush Fenway Racing driver had his racing career recognized as he visited the capitol in Jackson, which is just over 200 miles south of his hometown of Olive Branch.
The fifth-year NASCAR Cup Series driver met with Governor Phil Bryant, members of the House of Representatives and was presented with a plaque.
Stenhouse is three days removed from finishing 33rd in the Daytona 500 following an early crash in the race’s final stage.

Nice surprise this afternoon at the Capitol. Olive Branch's own @StenhouseJr dropped by to see us. Wish him luck this weekend in Atlanta! pic.twitter.com/fyVmHjOssO
