David Ragan leads Cup practice at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - David Ragan posted the fastest lap in the first Cup practice session Friday at Daytona International Speedway.

Ragan, who drives for Front Row Motorsports, posted a lap of 194.898 mph. He was followed Kasey Kahne (194.793 mph), Daytona 500 pole-sitter Chase Elliott (194.776), Ryan Newman (194.717) and Jimmie Johnson (194.616). Dale Earnhardt Jr. was sixth at 194.586 mph.

Twenty-one of the 40 cars in the Daytona 500 practiced.

There were no incidents in the 55-minute session.
