A crew chief for Justin Allgaier Motorsports was one of three injured Sunday night at the 46th Annual DIRTcar Nationals at De Leon Springs, Florida, when a car went through the fence in Turn 2 and into the pit area.

Kelly Kovsk, 35, is being treated at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is listed in stable condition according to the team.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff department, a 68-year-old man is in critical condition while the third person hurt in the accident, Gary Streek of the United Kingdom, is no longer hospitalized.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of our racing family injured Sunday night, and we are encouraged by the reports of the excellent care they are receiving at Halifax,” Volusia Speedway Park CEO Brian Carter told MRN.com. “We have implemented additional safety measures and are very proud of our emergency medical personnel and their response to the incident.”

Justin Allgaier Motorsports announced in the following statement that Allgaier, who drives for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series, will not compete in more DIRTCar Nationals events this year.
