TV personality/designer and Atlanta native Ty Pennington will return to his hometown next month to serve as grand marshal of the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event will be held March 5 at the 1.5-mile track in Hampton, Georgia.
Not only did Pennington grow up in Atlanta, he also kicked off his design and TV career after graduating from The Art Institute of Atlanta.
From there he went on to hosting a number of TV shows including “Trading Spaces,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, and most recently Food Network’s “American Diner Revival.”
As part of his grand marshal duties, Pennington will meet race fans, attend the pre-race drivers’ meeting and give the command for drivers to start their engines.
