Mark Martin might be a new member of the NASCAR Hall of Famer, but he’s got at least one more race in him.
Martin, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame last month, will compete in the July 15 IWK 250 at Riverside International Speedway in James River, Nova Scotia, Canada.
The Super Late Model event at the 1/3-mile, high-banked track will be the first race the 58-year-old driver has competed in since his final NASCAR start in the 2013 Cup finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race has been held annually since 1977.
“I’ve heard nothing but good things from my NASCAR buddies about the race, the competition and the fans,” Martin said in a track press release. “It’s always fun to get back to your roots. My career began at local short tracks, and I got the opportunity to go to so many great speedways. I can’t wait to check this one out along with the competition and the fans.”
Martin will drive for Nova Racing with team owner Donald Chisholm and George Koszkulics serving as his teammates.

“It’s going to be a real thrill to compete against Mark Martin,” Chisholm said in the press release. Chisholm is the defending winner of the IWK 250. “He has had such an amazing career and the fact that he has just gone into the NASCAR Hall of Fame makes his visit even more special. It will be cool to see him driving a car from our shop. You don’t get a chance to prepare a car for a racing legend very often.”
Said Martin: “I’m really looking forward to the trip. I have done a ton of racing in similar cars that run there. I always loved racing those cars.”
Regan Smith (2008) is the only NASCAR drive to ever win the IWK 250, but Brad Keselowski, Ricky Craven, Joey Logano, Matt Crafton and Marcos Ambrose are among those who have competed in the race.
