Corey LaJoie will make his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut in the Daytona 500 on Feb. 26 in BK Racing’s No. 83.

The son of two-time Xfinity Series champion Randy LaJoie, Corey LaJoie will pilot the No. 83 for multiple races in 2017, including the “Great American Race.”

The native of Concord, North Carolina, will be sponsored by Dustless Blasting.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to have the chance to race on Sundays with BK Racing,” LaJoie said in a press release. “For Ron Devine to take a chance on a hungry kid means the world. I’m going to work hard to be the best driver I can be and get the No. 83 Dustless Blasting Toyota a great finish at Daytona.”

LaJoie has 16 Xfinity Series starts since 2013. His best result is sixth in last year’s fall race at Dover International Speedway.

The 25-year-old driver has 37 starts and one win in the K&N Pro Series East. The win came last year at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The LaJoie news comes after BK Racing’s announcement that Gray Gaulding would drive the No. 23 in the majority of this season’s races. Joey Gase will drive it in three races.

“When I look at Corey LaJoie and his racing career, I see a young man with a bright future and a lot of talent,” said BK Racing owner Ron Devine in a press release. “I’m proud that we can give him a chance to run more Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races. He has raced against a lot of these Cup drivers before and he’s had success, so I am excited to see what he can do in our No. 83 Toyota.”

The Daytona 500 is set for Feb. 26.
