Rico Abreu and Cameron Hayley will not be back at ThorSport Racing in 2017, a team spokesperson confirmed to NBC Sports.
Motorsport.com first reported the Abreu news. Catchfence.com first reported the news on Hayley.
Abreu’s time with the team ends after one season in the Camping World Truck Series. Hayley raced for the Sandusky, Ohio, based team the last two seasons.
In 23 starts in 2016, Abreu recorded two top fives and five top 10s. His best result was third at Eldora Speedway. The two-time defending Chili Bowl winner came close earning a victory at Texas Motor Speedway before late contact with the wall ended his bid.
Hayley, a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, debuted in the Truck Series in 2014. He earned 10 top fives and 26 tops 10s in his two years with ThorSport. His best finish was second, earned in last season’s visits to Atlanta Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity I had at ThorSport Racing,” Hayley told Catchfence.com. “Duke (Thorson), Rhonda, everyone at ThorSport treated me great and I’m appreciative of the opportunity I had to be in competitive equipment and show what I am capable of. Unfortunately, the sponsorship didn’t materialize as we had hoped for this season, so I won’t be back.
ThorSport said it will announce its 2017 driver lineup later next week.
