Todd Gilliland just keeps getting busier.

The 16-year-old K&N Pro Series West champion (youngest in NASCAR history) announced last week he’ll defend his Ptitle while also racing full-time in the Pro Series East class, as well.

Wednesday, it was announced that the son of NASCAR driver David Gilliland will add four Camping World Truck Series events to his plate. Gilliland will drive for Kyle Busch Motorsports.

The Trucks deal is a continuation of the relationship Gilliland has with KBM, for whom he competed in seven Super Late Model races in 2016.

“We liked what we saw with his competitive nature and strong work ethic, so we are looking forward to seeing him move up to the Truck Series program for 2017 and getting behind the wheel of our Tundras for four races,” Kyle Busch said. “He has the talent to succeed in bigger stock cars and he deserves a chance to compete at higher levels next season.”

Gilliland will make his Truck Series debut in a Toyota Tundra on June 17 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois.

Other Truck races that Gilliland will compete in will be Sept. 3 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ont.; Sept. 23 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon and Nov. 10 at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway.

“Moving up into the top levels of NASCAR is going to be a learning experience,” Gilliland said. “But I know that I’m getting behind the wheel of fast Tundras and with the staff that they have in place at KBM and the knowledge that Kyle can pass along I’m going to learn a lot and continue to grow as a driver.”

Gilliland won six races in the K&N PSW this past season (tying a series record for most wins in a single season), as well as earning 11 top-five and 13 top-10 finishes, along with six poles.

In addition to Gilliland’s four scheduled Truck races, Busch will drive in five Truck races, as well. Other drivers have yet to be named for the remaining races in the No. 51 Tundra.
