Akinori Ogata, a driver with five Camping World Truck Series starts, had a truck and trailer holding a Legend race car and equipment stolen early Monday morning in Mooresville, North Carolina, according to Fox 46 in Charlotte.

The Legend car is raced by his son.

Ogata, a native of Kanagawa, Japan, came to the United States in 2010 to pursue a racing career.

The truck is a white Ford F-350, which was connected to a 28-foot white trailer. In the trailer was his son’s No. 14 Legends car.

“It’s very sad. I came here six years ago from Japan with nothing. No equipment, no friends,” Ogata told Fox 46 “That was gone in just a few minutes. We cannot race so we are very disappointed.”

Without his trailer, Ogata is unable to move the cars that are still in his shop, including the No. 35 Truck he made his first Truck Series start with in 2014 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Ogata made one Truck start this season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he finished 31st, 100 laps down.

Anyone with information about the stolen truck, trailer and car can call the Mooresville police at 704-664-3311.
