It took Matt DiBenedetto a week to find a new ride.
DiBenedetto, who announced Dec. 8 that he was leaving BK Racing, was announced as the new driver at Go Fas Racing Thursday afternoon. DiBenedetto will drive the No. 32 Ford full-time next year in the premier series.
Go Fas Racing had eight drivers in the No. 32 during the 2016 season, including Rookie of the Year contender Jeffrey Earnhardt and 2000 champion Bobby Labonte.
With DiBenedetto’s hiring, it will be the first time the organization has had one driver compete for a full season.
“Mason and I couldn’t be happier to have Matt joining us here at GFR,” team owner Archie St. Hilaire said in a release. “We believe Matt’s driving ability and a fleet of newer race equipment purchased this off season will elevate our program to new levels in 2017.”
DiBenedetto spent the last two years driving for BK Racing, where he earned one top-10 finish in 68 starts. He finished 35th in points in both seasons.
“I am very excited to join Go Fas Racing for the 2017 season,” DiBenedetto said. “We have a great group of people that I am very excited to work with this season. I am thankful for the opportunity and I look forward to representing the team and sponsors to the best of my ability.”
