GMS Racing will compete full-time in the Xfinity Series next season.

The organization announced Thursday it will move into the series with driver Spencer Gallagher. Gallagher will drive the No. 23 Chevrolet with details around his sponsor and crew chief to be announced later.

“I am really excited about running full-time in the Xfinity Series,” said Gallagher in a team release. “I made my Xfinity debut this year and we learned a lot as an organization. Though I have raced against some of these drivers, I know the competition is going to be much more competitive so I need to be focused and on my ‘A’ game all year. For next year, my plan is to continue and grow this program, be consistent and make the Chase.”

Gallagher made seven starts in the Xfinity Series in 2016, earning a career-best eighth-place finish at Daytona International Speedway in July. He also ran full-time in the Camping World Truck Series, finishing 12th in points. In 58 career starts, Gallagher earned 15 career top-10 finishes.

GMS Racing is also coming off a career-year in the Truck Series. The organization earned six wins with four different drivers and captured the series championship with Johnny Sauter.
