Rusty Wallace will be back in a cockpit next month when he competes in the Ferrari Finali Mondiali Dec. 1-4 at Daytona International Speedway.

The Ferrari Finali Mondiali is a four-day event being held in North America for the first time. It brings together competitors from the European, North American and Asia Pacific series of the Ferrari Challenge to race for the World Championship in Ferrari 458 Challenge EVOs. The race has previously been held in the United Arab Emirates, Spain and Italy.

In the event on Daytona’s 3.56-mile road course, the 1989 Sprint Cup champion will drive for Risi Competizione/Ferrari of Houston in the North America series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli.

“I hope that I can run strong in it and hopefully win but I’m realistic too,” Wallace said in a press release. “I haven’t been in a car in a long time. I’m going to have to knock a lot cobwebs off but I got the passion for it.”

Wallace, who currently serves as an analyst for MRN Radio, will test for the team at Circuit of Americas in Austin, Texas, prior to the race. Wallace last competed in NASCAR in 2005.

The 2013 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee has raced on Daytona’s road course just once, in the 2006 Rolex 24 At Daytona.
