Tony Stewart gets a fitting tribute in his final race as he gets to lead the field ahead of the Chase final at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Tony Stewart drove to the front of the field before the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The retiring Stewart was given a ceremonial lap around the 1.5-mile speedway behind a giant banner that read, “Thank you Smoke.” Sunday is Stewart’s final Sprint Cup Series start after 18 full seasons, 49 career wins, and three championships.

“New leader, 14,” Stewart’s team cracked as he crossed the start/finish line.

“I’d like to hear that a couple more times,” Stewart replied.

As Stewart moved back into his starting position, he had one final message for his No. 14 team.

“Guys, it’s been a hell of a ride for 18 years. Let’s go out here and have one more good day.”
