William Byron will start from the pole at Homestead-Miami Speedway after putting down a lap of 170.886 mph in the second round of Camping World Truck Series qualifying for the Ford EcoBoost 200.

It is Byron’s third pole of the season as well as the third of his career. He will lead the field to the green flag alongside Cole Custer, who qualified second at 170.800 mph. Byron was also fastest in the two practice sessions held on Friday.

“It’s been an awesome year for everyone at (Kyle Busch Motorsports) on this Liberty University Tundra, so hopefully, we can kind of finish it off the way we started,” Byron told Fox Sports 1. “It’s so cool to get back-to-back poles. Last week (being eliminated from the Chase) was heartbreaking but we’re moving forward and we’ve got a great Liberty University Tundra this weekend. We’ll see what happens. This place is really cool. It’s going to race really awesome and we’ve got some tough competition from the guys running for a championship. Hopefully, we can do what we need to do to win.”

The rest of the top five were Kyle Larson (170.213 mph), Matt Crafton (169.747 mph), and Spencer Gallagher (169.678 mph).

Only two of the four Chase contenders advanced to the second and final round of qualifying.

Crafton will start fourth in his pursuit of a third championship. Rookie Christopher Bell (168.545 mph) will start eighth.

Fellow Chase contenders, Timothy Peters and Johnny Sauter, will start 13th and 19th respectively.
