Watch live: NASCAR America 5:30-7 pm ET -- Phoenix recap

Today’s episode of NASCAR America airs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN and looks back on Sunday’s penultimate race outcome at Phoenix International Raceway in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.

Carolyn Manno hosts with Dale Jarrett in our Stamford, Connecticut studios, while Jeff Burton and Kyle Petty will be in Burton’s Garage.

Among topics on today’s show:

  • The Championship 4 are set for Miami – We break down all that went into filling the last two spots yesterday in Phoenix, the drama of the final laps and who we’re most surprised is out of title contention.

  • Joe Gibbs had reason to celebrate in Phoenix as he’ll have two of his drivers in the Championship 4. But there was also some disappointment as well. We’ll hear from him about Sunday’s race.

  • Alex Bowman turned in the best race of his Sprint Cup career, finishing 6th and leading the most laps in Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s #88 car. But a question remains: Where will he end up next year? DJ, Kyle and Jeff weigh in on Bowman’s options for 2017.

  • And we’ll get you ready for Championship week, starting tonight with a special edition of #NASCARThrowback celebrating Tony Stewart’s 2011 drive to the title at Miami – and Smoke will be live-tweeting all the action! Tune in at 9 p.m. ET on NBCSN and join in using the hashtag #NASCARThrowback.
