The No. 88 car of Alex Bowman hit the wall on lap 55 of the Ticket Galaxy 300 at Phoenix International Speedway, causing sparks to fly and his car set on fire.

Alex Bowman, who will start on the pole for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race, was uninjured after his car slammed into the Turn 3 wall on Lap 55 of Saturday night’s Xfinity Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.

He was evaluated and released from the infield care center.

Bowman said he was unsure what happened but saw that the left front tire was down after he exited the car. Goodyear said the valve stem was knocked off the tire. The team had pitted a few laps earlier during the first caution period of the race.

Bowman, driving for JR Motorsports, finished 38th.
