Myatt Snider, son of NBC Sports’ NASCAR reporter Marty Snider, will attempt to make his first Camping World Truck Series start this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.
The 21-year-old driver will compete for AM Racing in the No. 22 Toyota sponsored by The Original Louisiana Hot Sauce Co.
Snider has competed in Late Models and nine ARCA Racing Series events this year, winning his debut at Toledo Speedway. His average finish is 13.8 with three top fives.
“Getting the opportunity to move up into the ‘big three’ top divisions of NASCAR racing has always been my long-term goal, and I don’t have to tell you how excited I am,” Snider said in a press release.
Friday’s Lucas Oil 150 will be Snider’s first time driving on the 1-mile track. He said he’ll spend the days before the race learning the track via iRacing, the online simulator.
“I’ll certainly come in there with a hungry attitude, but I’m keeping my expectations in check,” Snider said in a press release. “The big goal is to get my feet wet and gain experience that we can use if and when we get the opportunity to compete in more truck races next season.”
The No. 22 has been driven by Austin Wayne Self in 19 races this season and Justin Fontaine in one. Its best finish was ninth at Eldora Speedway.
