Sprint Cup Chase Grid: Joe Gibbs Racing in a precarious position

Carl Edwards rose to the occasion at Texas Motor Speedway.

After finding himself outside of a transfer spot by 32 points following a 36th-place finish at Martinsville, Edwards won at Texas to lock in a spot at Homestead. In doing so, Edwards gave Joe Gibbs Racing its first win in the Chase and guaranteed the company would have at least one car in the final four.

Edwards and Jimmie Johnson can rest easy going into the cutoff race at Phoenix International Raceway.

But the three other Joe Gibbs Racing cars cannot. Kyle Busch holds the final transfer spot, by one point on Matt Kenseth. Busch holds a two-point advantage on Denny Hamlin.

Kevin Harvick, who has won at Phoenix eight times, is also on the outside looking in while his Stewart-Haas Racing teammate, Kurt Busch, finds himself in a must-win situation.
