Kevin Harvick tops first Sprint Cup practice at Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas - Kevin Harvick was fastest in the first Sprint Cup practice session at Texas Motor Speedway, putting down a top speed of 196.685 mph.

Harvick is one of the eight drivers left in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Filling out the top five was Carl Edwards (196.278), Matt Kenseth (195.929), Joey Logano (195.574) and Ryan Blaney (195.397).

The remaining four Chase drivers:

7th: Kurt Busch, 195.051 mph

15th: Denny Hamlin, 193.972 mph

22nd: Kyle Busch, 193.002 mph

33rd: Jimmie Johnson, 190.705 mph

The session was stopped about six minutes into the session when Kyle Busch slapped the wall exiting Turn 4. Busch, who is fourth on the Chase grid, went to a backup car and returned to the track about an hour into the session.
