Dennis Quaid named grand marshal for Texas Chase race

Dennis Quaid, the actor known for his roles in The Rookie, Everybody’s All-American, Frequency and The Parent Trap has been announced as the grand marshal for the Nov. 6 AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Quaid, a native of Houston, will give the command to start engines prior to the race, which is the second race of the third round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

“As a Texan, I’m thrilled to be the Grand Marshal at the AAA Texas 500,” Quaid said in a press release. “It is a great honor to say the greatest words in motorsports and I’m looking forward to it.”

Quaid can currently be seen in the second season of the Crackle TV series The Art of More.

The AAA Texas 500 is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Nov. 6 on NBC.
