Sidelined by his concussion, Dale Earnhardt Jr. could not drive fans who had contributed $8,000 to the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Foundation for the chance to ride around Charlotte Motor Speedway in a two-seat stock car Tuesday night.
Hearing Earnhardt’s quandary, another driver volunteered.
Tony Stewart.
Earnhardt took to Twitter to thank Stewart for the help.
“We were in a bind and needed some help and the person that volunteered to come in and drive the car was Tony Stewart,’' Earnhardt said in a video message. “So, on behalf of the foundation, Tony, thank you for helping us be able to raise the money tonight that we raised and give these people that paid that money the ride of their life.’'
Shortly after the video message appeared, Stewart’s business manager posted a photo on Twitter of Stewart with Earnhardt and his sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller.
