JOLIET, Ill. - Car owner Richard Childress announced Saturday that Daniel Hemric will drive for Richard Childress Racing in the Xfinity Series next season.

Childress made the announcement live on NBCSN after Xfinity qualifying.

“He’s going to do a great job for us, and we’re really excited to have him,’’ Childress said of Hemric. “I know he can go out and get the job done if we can give him the right equipment.

“To have a great young driver like Daniel coming on board is going to mean a lot to the future of RCR.’’

Childress said Ty Dillon will run “almost a full’’ season in Xfinity next year but there are “other announcements” coming in regards to Dillon’s status. Dillon is expected to have a full-time Sprint Cup ride next season.

Hemric’s sponsor, crew chief and team will be named at a later date.

Hemric, 25, is a part of the inaugural Camping World Truck Series Chase after qualifying Friday night. He is one of eight drivers who will go for the title.

This is Hemric’s second season in the Truck series. He finished seventh in points last year and then moved to Brad Keselowski Racing this season.

Hemric, who finished second in Friday night’s Truck race at Chicagoland Speedway, has 26 top-10 finishes in 42 career series starts.

Brad Keselowski issued a statement after the announcement about Hemric moving to RCR next year.

“We are very happy for Daniel, and I’m really proud of what he’s accomplished with Brad Keselowski Racing in 2016,” Keselowski said. “One of the things we wanted to do at BKR is give talented young drivers an opportunity to take the next step in their career. He has proven to me that he’s capable of being an elite level guy at the top of this sport. We hope to finish off this season with our first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship.”
