A record nine cautions couldn’t keep 18-year-old William Byron from scoring his fifth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win Saturday at Pocono Raceway.

Byron showed his strength when the race wasn’t under caution for numerous spins or wrecks, breaking the series record for wins in a season by a rookie set by Kurt Busch in 2000.

“Five! You’ve got to be kidding me!’’ Byron shouted on his radio after crossing the finish line.

Byron led 44 of 60 laps to score his fourth victory in the last six races.

Cameron Hayley finished second with Brett Moffitt third, Timothy Peters fourth and Cole Custer fifth.

HOW WILLIAM BYRON WON: He had the best Truck and handled all the restarts well, fending off challengers. He didn’t wilt under pressure, showing it’s not just equipment that has led to his success.

WHO HAD A GOOD RACE: Brett Moffitt, filling in for Matt Tifft, started 15th, avoided the incidents and finished third. ... Cole Custer overcame a spin to place fifth, his first top-five finish since finishing second at Iowa last month.

WHO HAD A BAD RACE: Austin Hill started a season-high sixth but hit the wall on the first lap and finished 31st in the 32-truck field. ... Brad Keselowski Racing teammates Daniel Hemric and Tyler Reddick wrecked. Hemric spun and went up the track into Reddick’s path. Reddick finished 26th and Hemric placed 22nd.

NOTABLE: The record nine cautions led to 27 of the race’s 60 laps being run with the yellow flag waving.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “I’ll take a record anyway I can get them.” --- Christopher Bell, who came back from five laps down to finish 10th, getting his lap back a series-record five times after he was involved in an accident with John Wes Townley.

WHAT’S NEXT: The Camping World Truck Series is off until Aug. 17 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
