Joe Gibbs Racing announced Tuesday that Dakoda Armstrong will drive the No. 18 in this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity race at Iowa Speedway for Matt Tifft, who continues his rehabilitation from recent surgery to remove a low-grade glioma in his brain.
Sam Hornish Jr. won for the team earlier this year at Iowa, driving in place of Tifft.
The No. 18 is coming off a win this past weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Kyle Busch. That gives the Xfinity team a 57-point lead in the owners standings.
Winfield, a supporter of Armstrong, will sponsor the car this weekend. Armstrong has competed in 91 Xfinity races with a best finish of sixth at Daytona in July 2015.
