NASCAR America reflects on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s emotional victory at Daytona in July of 2001 following the death of his father.

Relive one of NASCAR’s more emotional nights and share your thoughts on social media as NBCSN presents a special showing of the 2001 July Daytona race at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Britney Spears gave the command to start engines. Sterling Marlin was on the pole with Ward Burton beside him on the front row. The late Benny Parsons was in the NBC booth with Allen Bestwick and Wally Dallenbach, and the night ended with Dale Earnhardt Jr. winning in the first Cup race at the track since his father died on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500.

You be can be a part of the broadcast. Fans can tweet about the race using #NASCARThrowback and potentially see their tweets on TV during the two-hour broadcast.

If you miss any of it the first time, it will air again at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

This viewing party kicks off the beginning of NBC Sports Group’s coverage of NASCAR. NBC and NBCSN will broadcast the rest of the Sprint Cup and Xfinity races this season. NBC Sports Group will have more than 45 hours of NASCAR programming this week, highlighted by Saturday’s Coke Zer0 400 at 7 p.m. ET on NBC.
