NASCAR docked Kasey Kahne 15 points, fined crew chief Keith Rodden $25,000 and took 15 points away from Rick Hendrick in the owners standings for a P3 violation found after last weekend’s race at Dover International Speedway.

“We had an unintentional issue at Dover when our left- and right-side truck arms were bent at some point during the race,” said Keith Rodden, crew chief of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team, in a statement from the team. “I’m disappointed in NASCAR’s decision, but we have to accept it and focus on the upcoming races. We have a great team with a lot of positive momentum that we hope to carry into the summer.”

Hendrick Motorsports will not appeal the penalty.

Losing 15 points drops Kahne four spots to 20th in the standings. He had been in the final transfer spot to the Chase. Now, he’s 12 points behind A.J. Allmendinger for the final spot.
