Hendrick Motorsports and AARP’s Drive to End Hunger have reached a one-year extension on their sponsorship deal for 2016.
After sponsoring Jeff Gordon for five years beginning in 2011, the organization will be a primary sponsor on the No. 5 of Kasey Kahne for two races - the Aug. 20 night race at Bristol Motor Speedway and Nov. 6 at Texas Motor Speedway.
It will be an associate sponsor in all other races.
The two-race deal as a primary sponsor is down from the six that Drive to End Hunger was on Gordon’s car last year. AARP sponsored Gordon in 12 races total.
“Drive to End Hunger has been an incredible partner of Hendrick Motorsports,” Kahne said in a press release. “They made an unbelievable impact with Jeff, and I’m excited to work with them to continue those efforts and make a difference for the millions of older Americans who need our support. We hope to do as much good as possible and keep building this great relationship.”
