TriStar Motorsports has scaled back to a two-car Xfinity Series operation for this coming season, the team announced Wednesday.

The Statesville, North Carolina based organization said in a media release that the move is “an effort to refocus goals and enhance the level of competition.”

David Starr will remain as driver of the No. 44 Toyota Camry. Former Richard Petty Motorsports crew chief Frank Kerr has joined TriStar and will serve in the same role with Starr.

The Zachry Group will remain the team’s primary sponsor.

As for TriStar’s other Xfinity Series entry, the No. 14 Toyota Camry will continue to be led by crew chief Eddie Pardue. The team said it is still negotiating with both possible drivers and potential sponsors.

The organization said it amicably parted ways with driver Blake Koch, who it was announced Wednesday will drive the No. 11 Chevrolet Camaro in the Xfinity Series for a brand new team, Kaulig Racing.

TriStar will enter its seventh season in the Xfinity Series.
