Hendrick Motorsports will be doing the Dew a lot more this season.

The four-team Sprint Cup organization announced Friday that for the first time, three of its drivers will be sponsored in one form or other by Mountain Dew.

The soda has been most closely associated with Dale Earnhardt Jr., and will continue that relationship. In so doing, Mountain Dew’s association fills up Earnhardt’s No. 88 for all 36 races (plus two exhibition races) on the Sprint Cup circuit this season.

Nationwide Insurance will appear the most on Earnhardt’s Chevrolet (21 races), followed by Axalta (13 races), Mountain Dew (3 races, through the 2018 season) and TaxSlayer.com (1 race).

The other two drivers in the Hendrick stable who will have Mountain Dew sponsorship for the first time are Sprint Cup rookie Chase Elliott and veteran Kasey Kahne.

Elliott has all but five races fully sponsored this season: NAPA Auto Parts (24 races), 3M (5), Kelley Blue Book (2), Mountain Dew (2).

Kahne still has seven races to fill in terms of sponsorship. But he does have 31 races already covered: Farmer’s Insurance (12 races), Great Clips (10), LiftMaster (3), Quicken Loans (3), Panasonic (2) and Mountain Dew (1).

All three drivers will also receive associate sponsorship from Mountain Dew for races that the soda company will not serve as primary sponsor.
