Tommy Baldwin Racing announces additions to team

It’s been news filled offseason for Tommy Baldwin Racing.

A week after its extension with sponsor Toy State for the No. 7 of Alex Bowman, the Sprint Cup team announced new additions in hirings and promotions for the team.

TBR has hired fabrication shop manager Francois “Frankie” Bergeron from Joe Gibbs Racing to the same position. Bergeron oversaw the building of JGR’s cars for the past five years.

“Frankie brings with him a resume full of race wins and experience,” said team owner Tommy Baldwin in a press release. “His knowledge and leadership will be an invaluable asset to our program.”

The new hires also include refugees from the now defunct Michael Waltrip Racing.

Hires include Chad Walters, who will be in charge of race engineering after serving as engineer and manager of research and development. Doug Trader and Brent Patzack have also been added to the body-building shop from MWR.

Mike Brill has replaced Ken Davis as the car chief on the No. 7 after coming over from Richard Childress Racing. Davis will stays with TBR as chassis specialist and mechanic in the team’s shop.

Longtime TBR team member Jamie Tomaino has been promoted to shop foreman.
