Atlanta announces 2016 race date, ‘perfect race weather guarantee’

atlanta motor speedway logo

As it did in 2015, Atlanta Motor Speedway will host the Sprint Cup race the week following the 2016 season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

The track has announced that the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28. The track, owned by Speedway Motorsports, Inc., has also announced it will launch a “Perfect Race Weather Guarantee” next year.

According to AMS’ website, the guarantee ensures the following:

The all-new policy offers fans options in the event that inclement weather prevents them from attending the race. If the daytime high temperature in Hampton, Georgia on Saturday or Sunday of race weekend fails to reach at least 50 degrees as observed by the National Weather Service, or if weather issues postpone the day’s activities to a different day and fans are unable to attend on the rescheduled date, fans who do not enter the admission gates on the day the event is held will receive an account credit for the full price of their tickets. Credits can be applied to any future AMS event or events in 2016 or the 2017 NASCAR Weekend.

Atlanta’s announcement comes after Kentucky Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway announced their 2016 dates. NASCAR intends to announce the full 2016 schedule in the next couple of weeks.
