Today’s Bank of America 500: Start time, TV info, weather and more

CONCORD, N.C. — After Saturday night’s postponement, the Bank of America 500 will be held this afternoon. This is the opening race of the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Here are the particulars (all times are ET):

START: Master Sergeants, Shane Perret, Adam Martinez, George Palmer, Stephen Canonico from Army Soldier for Life Office are scheduled to give the command to start engines at 12:21 pm. The green flag is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 334 laps (500 miles) around the 1.5-mile oval.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Sprint Cup garage opens at 9:30 a.m. Driver introductions are at 11:40 a.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Will be performed by Danielle Johnson at 12:15 p.m.

TV/RADIO: NBCSN will broadcast the race (and streaming available at http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra) at 12:30 p.m. The prerace show will start with NASCAR America at noon on NBCSN. Performance Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at GoPRN.com. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry PRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts 64 degrees at race time with a 0% chance of rain.

PAST TWO RACES: On May 24, Carl Edwards led the final 21 laps with a successful fuel mileage gambit for his first victory of the 2015 season. On Sept. 28, 2014, Kevin Harvick led 162 laps to secure a berth in the third round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
