NASCAR will kick off the opening weekend of the Chase for the Sprint Cup by hosting a “Chase Fest” street party next month in Chicago.

Chase Fest will take place from 2 to 9 pm CT on Thursday, Sept. 17, just northwest of Chicago’s downtown area on Weed Street, between Fremont and Kingsbury streets, and just off the main thoroughfare of North Ave.

All 16 Chase competitors in the Challenger Round will attend and sign autographs, while Grammy-nominated rock band 3 Doors Down will give a free concert.

The street party will also include the Toyota Ferris Wheel and the NASCAR on NBC Sports Bumper Cars, activations from Sprint, an appearance by the Sprint Cup Series championship trophy and another concert by Chicago favorite Suburban Cowboys.

In addition, fans will be treated to free food and drink from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and Coors Light (with proper ID).

“The days leading into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup have become a signature moment in our sport,” said Steve Phelps, NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “With the support of Toyota, Sprint and Chicagoland Speedway, we expect to deliver an engaging fan experience that builds anticipation for the most competitive stretch of our season.”

NBCSN personalities Krista Voda, Kyle Petty, Marty Snider and Rutledge Wood will also take part in a live telecast of NASCAR America, interviewing all Chase drivers from the site.

The opening race of the Chase, the MyAFibRisk 400, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 20, at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., about 45 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The race starts at 3 pm ET and will be televised on NBCSN.
