An update on the condition of Kevin Swindell, a sprint car driver injured in a qualifying race at the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa on Thursday, has been provided by Swindell’s father, Sammy.
Swindell, who has competed in 30 Xfinity Series races in the last five years, has successfully undergone a second surgery on one of the two fractures he suffered in his back.
“We realize there is a long battle ahead, but Kevin has remained positive throughout the process and is prepared to fight to regain his healthy,” Sammy Swindell said in his first tweet. “We’re all hopeful for a Friday discharge and the next steps to recovery.”
