Chris Buscher still atop Xfinity standings after Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen

With a strong third-place finish, Chris Buescher remains first in the Xfinity Series championship standings following Saturday’s Zippo 200 race at Watkins Glen.

Chase Elliott and Ty Dillon are now tied for second, 24 points behind Buescher. Elliott finished seventh in the race, while Dillon finished fifth.

Regan Smith, who tangled with Ty Dillon both in the race and in a shoving match after the event, said the outcome likely ended both his and Dillon’s chances to earn the championship.

“I guarantee, I might have lost the championship today, but he sure as hell did, too,” an incensed Smith said of Dillon. “There’s zero chance that 3 car (Dillon’s) wins this championship, and we’ll make sure of it.”
