With NASCAR in Pocono this weekend, Jeff Gordon ventured to nearby New York City to appear Thursday morning on “Live With Kelly & Michael.”
Much of the four-time Sprint Cup champion’s appearance centered around his pending “retirement,” a word Gordon still hates to use, and show co-host Kelly Ripa’s repeated insistence that he’ll be back racing at some point.
The highlight of the show was when Ripa and co-host Michael Strahan gave the “Top 5 Things Jeff Gordon Will Do After ‘Retiring’” (video below):
5 “Change his first name to “Flash” (as in Flash Gordon)”
4 “Reject phone calls from the producers of ‘Dancing With The Stars’”
3 “Hire a pit crew to change light bulbs in his house (‘I already have that,’ Gordon joked in response)”
2 “Like Cher and (Barbara) Streisand, get really bored and kick off his comeback tour” (Said Ripa, “I know you’re getting behind the wheel of that car. When you do, I just want you to know I’ll be there to say ‘I told you so.’”)
1 “Try to become a talk show host because that’s what all ex-athletes do” (like Strahan, a former NFL star).
